The eleven Commercial Water Utilities (CUs) in Zambia have come up with an initiative called Water Utility Platform (WUP) to enhance collaboration and coordination in the sector.
The aim of this platform is to promote peer learning, knowledge exchange, innovation and capacity development among all the 11 CUs in order to improve water and sanitation services in the country.
The WUP will look at best practices in management of Non-Revenue Water (NRW), improving collection efficiency, billing accuracy and technological advancement.
Over the years, it has become evident that the Commercial Utilities (CUs) in Zambia face several challenges, which impede them from delivering high-quality water and sanitation services.
In order to overcome these challenges, CUs have established WUP with MWSC as the current secretariat and Lusaka Water the interim Chair, as the sector aims at redefining the land scape of water service delivery paving the way for a more sustainable future.
