As World Water Day 2025 approaches, stakeholders in Chingola are stepping up their efforts to address the theme, "Water Sources Protection Amidst Climate Change and Pollution."
A series of impactful activities are being carried out to mark the day, focusing on raising awareness and fostering action towards protecting water resources.
Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (MWSC), in collaboration with the Chingola Municipal Council, Chingola District Health Office, District Water Department, Epiroc, Mimbula Minerals Limited, and China Copper, has launched a significant tree planting initiative. As part of a broader commitment to combating climate change and restoring the environment, the partnership aims to plant 500 trees across the district.
The trees will be planted at selected schools, including Kabundi, Chingola, Sekela, Nchanga, Lain Christian Academy, and Chiwempala. These efforts underscore the importance of environmental stewardship in preserving water sources and promoting sustainable practices within the community.
This tree planting initiative is just one of many activities designed to raise awareness and inspire collective action towards protecting our vital water resources in the face of climate change and pollution.
Together, the stakeholders are making a lasting contribution to Chingola’s environmental future.
