Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (MWSC) has started implementing the five hundred thousand worth “Water for Life” project to benefit 4000 people in Kawama East in Mufulira.
The project which is partly funded by the Dutch government will see the construction of 500 new water connection, 12 communal access points, a 105,000 liters water reservoir and 50 Ventilation Improved Pit latrines (VIP) Toilets.
Netherlands Ambassador Dr. Margret Verwijk said she was optimist that the ‘’Water for Life ‘’ project will change the lives of the people of Kawama East.
Speaking when she visited the project site Dr. Verwijk stressed that the Dutch government attaches greater importance to the programs being supported in Zambia and that it was vital that the project benefits the community.
And MWSC Managing Director Ndila Hamalambo said that the Company had partnered with Dutch government through VEI to implement the project aimed at improving access to water and sanitation in the area.
He said that the project was projected to be completed in six months to ensure that residents of Kawama access improved water services.
