Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (MWSC) has begun repair works on a problematic sewer line in Gibson Chimfwembe Area, Chingola, as part of ongoing efforts to improve sanitation services and protect community health.
The project was confirmed by Ward Councilor Mr. Gibson Chala, who joined the MWSC team on a site visit to raise awareness on safeguarding the new infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of community support in ensuring the longevity of the works being done.
“We’ve had recurring sewer blockages in this area, which posed serious health risks. It’s encouraging to see action being taken, and we’ll continue working closely with MWSC to make sure these improvements benefit everyone,” said Mr. Chala.
This initiative is part of several targeted interventions MWSC is undertaking to tackle long-standing service challenges in our communities, and it complements the larger, transformative Zambia Water and Sanitation Project (ZWSP).
The ZWSP, MWSC’s flagship development project, is being implemented at a value of €150 million. It includes: Construction of a new water treatment plant, Rehabilitation of key infrastructure, Installation of new pumping systems, Replacement of bulk main and supply network pipes
MWSC remains committed to improving sanitation and water service delivery across all areas. We thank our customers for their patience and continued support as we work to build a healthier and more sustainable future for all.
