Leak repairs get shot in the arm
Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) has purchased eight utility vehicles to be used for reduction of Non-Revenue Water (NRW) under the Zambia Water and Sanitation Project (ZWSP).


The 156 million Euros, ZWSP has earmarked reduction of water through leaks as one of its main objectives among Water & sanitation expansion programmes in peri-urban areas, Investment in required rehabilitation & expansion of key water & sanitation infrastructure and Capacity building of MWSC to enhance its commercial and institutional viability & long term sustainability.
Speaking during the hand over ceremony, MWSC Director of Infrastructure Development Ndilakulampa Hamalambo said the company’s current NRW stood at 39% and the target was to reduce it to 25% by the year 2022.
He said the target will only be realized if various strategies were implemented which involve both purchase of equipment and man power development.
